Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties. It develops from a willingness to trust in what the next moment will bring. Art is about not knowing where one is going. Like any adventure the creative process starts by exploring unknown territory, in that it cannot have any knowable ends.

My artwork is an attempt to see beyond the obvious and reveal the elusive yet collective aspects of the human spirit. I paint contemporary topics with an interest in metaphor, surrealism and meditation. Every work of art is a path, a mythology, each drawn from deep allegorical fishing expeditions of the soul.

I believe art is creative for the sake of our transformation and in the universal quest we all take in this life, that of discovering the self. It exposes the glorious struggle of our everyday existence and paradoxical relationship in the mystery of nature. It is helpful as metaphoric indices and signposts pointing to personal discovery, joy, and healing.

Art is the symbolic language of the psyche. Our dreams and creative works are representations of these alchemical processes within everyone. We live, think, and dream in a world of images, with art being the universal language.

As an artist I am driven by a thirst for discovery in an age bereft of transcendental assurances. The main task of an artist is simply concentration, which is the ability to achieve a sincere and friendly silence within. My studio has a monastic character, for it is a humble place of origin in which to enter a quiet realm of meditative action. Following my internal vision I try to make visible a process that grows from spontaneity and unknowing.

Making art is a spiritual act, a form of active prayer, meditation, and grace. Although there is also a place in life for media as entertainment and escapism, I believe art is an honest attempt to go beyond amusement. Art as metaphor can assist us in a helpful change and a healing of consciousness. Art is in essence non-literal and thus helps to create transformation. It is different from entertainment as transportation and relief through mere distraction.
